Astrology Jewelry

Wandering Star Designs is a company like no other.

We began in 1996, when Alicia was studying Astronomy and wanted to make a necklace that had all the planets around her in their exact positions in the sky when she was born. Someone pointed out that Astrology Charts did exactly that.

At first Alicia was skeptical. But when she began to learn about horoscopes, she found that once you got past the blurbs in the newspaper, there actually really was some truth to it.

And when she began making the jewelry, stories flooded in about all the magical and powerful things that happened to the women and men who wore them.

Many years and thousands of necklaces and bracelets later, Alicia's "Meaningful Bling" is sold at the Smithsonian Institute, has been featured in a dozen magazines, and has been seen on the necks of Hollywood celebrities.

Wandering Star is a true example of what it means to be "Made in USA." Each piece is made to order by artisans in Portland, OR. Your dollars go straight to our employees, not to CEOs or overseas.

Alicia C. Katz

Alicia is the artist and visionary behind Wandering Star Astrology Chart Jewelry. She is a Cancer with a Libra moon and Libra ascendant, and has two Yods in her chart.

She “aligned” with her idea for astrology jewelry while studying astronomy in Santa Fe, NM in 1995. She wanted to make jewelry that was not only pretty, but practical and powerful as well. She discovered that she could balance the science of astronomy with the art of astrology. The first pieces were made as Christmas presents, then friends started asking for them…and a business was born. Wandering Star grew from a tackle box at the kitchen table to a community-based business with stores and customers all over the world.

Alicia has a Masters in Teaching from Tufts University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has been a member of the American Federation of Astrologers, and the Media Director for the Oregon Astrological Association.

When not making jewelry, she teaches Microsoft Office for Royalwise Solutions, and Macintosh computers at MacPac Academy, both in Portland OR. She also authors computer training videos for Lynda.com.

Alicia’s commitment to personal growth and artistic expression manifests a world that works for everyone. She says, “My jewelry is my way of bringing good energy to people’s lives, to create a tangible tool to encourage a positive self-fulfilling prophecy.”

With dozens of testimonials, the Smithsonian Institute carrying her jewelry, winning several awards, and articles being written about her work, it seems Alicia truly is making a difference in people’s lives!

Astrological Advisors

Wandering Star has received wonderful guidance from several astrologers over the years.

MaryJean Kidd, CAP MS was instrumental in creating the charts for our Destiny Jewelry. An astrologer with a counseling practice in Portland OR, MaryJean has also been the President of the Oregon Astrological Association.

Mark Dodich, CAP wrote much of the Learn Astrology content on our website. Also a past President of the OAA, he has been the astrologer for New Connexion magazine since the 1990s. He lectures regularly in the Portland area, and recently led a trip to Greece.

David Ockrassa, an astrologer since 1969, and the author of The Looking Glass, writes our Ingress horoscope (solstice and equinox). David uses the symbolism of Astrology to help individuals become more in tune with their own ‘map’ and with the potentials shown through actual and symbolic motions of the planets in relation to it. He seeks to empower each individual to make positive choices for their own personal growth.
